Equatorial Guinea interested in importing Zimbabwe pork
ZIMBABWE - Equatorial Guinea is interested in importing Zimbabwean pork despite biting meat shortages in the southern African country, said state radio today. The president of the tiny oil-rich country, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, toured Colcom Holdings, the main pork processing plant near Harare, yesterday.
The president has indicated his country’s interest in Zimbabwean pork products, said the report.
Sausages and a small amount of bacon, though expensive, are only the only meat readily available in Zimbabwe these days. Popular meats like chicken and beef have all but disappeared from shops since President Robert Mugabe ordered a massive price slash two months ago.
