Alliance Brings Genetic Gains
WORLDWIDE - Cobb-Vantress and Hendrix Genetics have announced an alliance that will strengthen both company's position in the livestock genetics business. The deal hopes to be finalised by Summer 2008.
The venture will enhance Cobb's leading position in the broiler breeding industry and also boost Hendrix's position in the egglayer, turkey and swine genetics sectors. It will also allow both companies to explore other joint venture opportunities and has been hailed as a significant break through for commercial research and development and their customer-base.
"Once our discussions started it became clear that we share a very similar vision and strategy, and we realized this alliance is a natural fit. Combining the efforts of our R&D teams will make us more efficient, and ultimately more successful," said Jerry Moye, president of Cobb-Vantress. "The combination between Cobb-Vantress and Hybro creates an even stronger global leader in broiler breeding with a further complementary portfolio of product, clients, markets and production structures," he added.
Thijs Hendrix, President of Hendrix Genetics said the alliance breaks new ground. "Together we create a new platform with a new horizon in animal breeding and life sciences," he added.
As part of the deal Cobb-Vantress acquires Hybro, the broiler breeding division of Hendrix, in exchange for preferred stock. A Joint Development Agreement (JDA) involving their respective Research & Development into livestock genetics has also been agreed.
