Advanced Breeding Herd Management Seminar

IOWA - ISU Extension, Iowa Pork Industry Center and Iowa Pork Producers Association are sponsoring an advanced swine breeding herd management seminars: June 10 (Marina Inn, South Sioux City, Neb) and 11(Waverly Civic Center, Waverly, IA).

Pre-registration at 9:30 and program running from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Pork producers who manage or own a sow herd will want to attend. Seminar topics will discuss trouble shooting reproductive problems, on site management of semen for artificial insemination success, reproductive herd performance tips and resources to enhance profitability.

Speaker & Topics:

  • Dr. Billy Flowers, North Carolina State University, specializes in artificial insemination and swine reproductive management. He will discuss the keys to identify and address reproductive problems in the breeding herd and proper on-site semen management.
  • Dr. Don Levis, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Swine Reproduction Specialist, will breeding herd performance tips which enhance economic returns.
  • Mark Storlie, ISU Extension Swine Field Specialist, will discuss ideas and resources for managers to improve the bottom line.

  • A registration fee of $25 includes lunch and materials; the meal will not be guaranteed for those not pre-registered.
  • those who attended last years program, please bring your completed survey to received your discount.
  • You may pre-register and pay at the door.
