Gilbert De Roy, Sales and Tech Service Representative Quebec, Hypor Inc sees the move as a win-win for both Hypor and Ferme Porasseny owner Pierre Simard. Hypor needed a high health multiplication source in Quebec and Simard was looking to expand his customer base in the province.

"Pierre has been a purebred breeder since the late 80’s and was one of the few breeders at that time that made biosecurity high on his priority list. The longevity of his high health status, his performance and his customer’s loyalty clearly indicates he has been doing all the right things," said Mr De Roy. "Instead of being competitors, we are now partners - growing both of our businesses during one of the most challenging times in the Canadian pork industry.

Eric Aubin, Sales and Marketing Manager, Hypor Inc. believes that partnerships and acquisitions are the keys to growing and supporting market share. "For the third time in as many months we have done both," said Mr Aubin. "We have a strategic alliance with Mid-America Genetics International Incorporated (MAG) a Manitoba based genetic company, we have purchased the purebred nucleus herd of Ontario based, Duroc breeder, Shade Oak Swine Ltd. This latest partnership with Ferme Porasseny in Quebec further strengthens the Hypor commitment to use our global expertise to deliver customized breeding solutions for each producer’s local requirements."
