OIE Reports New Outbreak of H1N1 in England

UK - A new outbreak of H1N1 has occured at a pig farm in Norfolk, England.

The English veterinary authorities sent Follow-up Report No. 13 to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on 23 December 2009.

According to the report, the outbreak was first confirmed on 22 December. The Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA) is conducting an epidemiological investigation of this event. Voluntary movement controls have been instituted by the farm in line with the agreed Industry Code of Practice.

The outbreak occured in swine at a farm in Norfolk.

A gene sequencing test was conducted and results confirmed the presence of the virus.
