BIVI Introduces 3FLEX for Convenient Virus Protection
US - Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI) has made vaccinating against three of the most critical diseases in the swine industry a convenient, one-shot process. At the Leman Swine Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota, BIVI unveiled 3FLEX™, the only combination package with Porcine Circovirus, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) vaccines that are USDA-approved for mixing and administering in one shot.
“With Porcine Circovirus costing producers more than $6 per pig, PRRS costing the
swine industry $560 million each year and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae setting the
industry back up to $1 billion, the swine industry pays a hefty price if these diseases
are not controlled,“ said Renier Pistorius, brand manager with BIVI. “We are proud
and excited to bring 3FLEX to market to help prevent these devastating diseases. Its
innovative combination package is a one-of-a-kind tool for producers.“
3FLEX combines Ingelvac CircoFLEX® 1, Ingelvac MycoFLEX® 2 and Ingelvac®
PRRS MLV 3, offering producers the ability to reduce stress on both pigs and
people, and decrease labor costs. The reduced number of injections and needles also
offers greater Pork Quality Assurance benefits.
“At Boehringer Ingelheim, we are committed to the health and safety of our
customers’ pigs, and to ensuring a safe food supply,“ said Greg Cline, DVM,
technical manager with BIVI. “As leaders in providing solutions for the swine
industry, we continue to bring innovative one-dose technology to the marketplace.
3FLEX allows producers the convenience to give one shot, one time, to susceptible
pigs.“
According to Mr Pistorius, “There are savings from the convenience of 3FLEX for
veterinarians and producers that go beyond dollars. The convenience of this product
also saves them time, labor and stress making it the smart choice for protecting pigs
from Porcine Circovirus, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and PRRS.“
The new vaccine combination package administered as a single, 2 mL intramuscular
injection to healthy, susceptible pigs 3 weeks of age or older was proven safe and
effective in field studies and trials.1,2,3,4 For more information about 3FLEX, visit
