Russia Again Hit by ASF Outbreak

RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported yet another outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in the Volgogradskaya Oblast.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 45 on Tuesday, 7 December.

According to the report, the outbreak took place at a village called Serafimovichskiy on 20 November. A total of 60 animals were found susceptible, out of which 26 cases were identified. All affected animals died as a result of the disease. The remaining 33 animals were destroyed.

The source of the outbreak is still under investigation.
