Biomin Holds First Mycotoxin Awareness Forum
MYANMAR – Biomin's distributor in Myanmar, Min Ye Tin of Yè Group, recently organised the 1st Myanmar Mycotoxin Awareness Forum. Two forums were held to reach out to industry players in both Lower Myanmar and Upper Myanmar.
Delegates from Lower Myanmar gathered at Hotel Yangon on 19 May and those from Upper Myanmar met in the Sedona Hotel, Mandalay on 21 May. These events highlighted the key issues and challenges concerning the Myanmar livestock industry with respect to the impact of mycotoxins contamination and covered important aspects relating to the management of these challenges.
Both events started with a welcome speech by Min Ye Tin, Managing Director of Yè Group and featured two key speakers from Biomin Asia. Dr Guan Shu who is the mycotoxin specialist for Asia, gave an informative presentation on the Mycotoxin Awareness Program. He delivered a basic introduction on the subject of mycotoxins and addressed the key challenges of the industry. Dr Guan then highlighted the important issues of sampling and detection methodology.
Edward Manchester, Regional Director of Biomin Asia, provided an overview of the 2010 Global Mycotoxin Survey, with particular reference to South and South-East Asia data. This global survey analysed almost 3,500 samples with more than 11,000 individual analyses. Mr Manchester then shared knowledge with the audiences on mycotoxin risk management strategies.
Dr Guan finished off the technical session with a comprehensive overview of specific trials involving the Mycofix® range of solutions, making reference to how the judicial application of Biomin's mycotoxin risk management programme can help customers achieve efficacy in performance.
Mr Manchester commented: "The first Myanmar Mycotoxin Awareness Forum allows global knowledge acquired within the Biomin Group to be shared with local audiences in Myanmar. In addition, these events provide a great opportunity for lively and interactive discussions amongst peers in the Myanmar livestock industry and an avenue for social networking at the same time.
"Biomin Asia and Yè Group wish to organise more of such events in future. Working closely with Yè Group, which has more than 20 years of industry experience in Myanmar, we are confident that the carefully designed forums can bring value to our customers," he added.
