CANADA - The Ontario Pork Industry Council (OPIC) recently announced details of their Swine Nutrition e-Learning and Diet Formulation Training Project, writes Greg Simpson, Swine Nutritionist of OMAFRA in the latest Pork News and Views from Ontario's Ministry of Agriculture.

The project will allow producers to learn about swine nutrition, develop business management skills and enhance understanding of the impact of feed and nutrition on the cost of production, in a self directed e-learning format.

The ten modules have been developed by University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus Professor, Paul Luimes along with OMAFRA Swine Nutritionist, Greg Simpson. Each module will include a quiz component to allow the user to self-assess their knowledge after completion of each module.

After working through all modules, the participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Ontario Pork Industry Council and they will then qualify for participation in a Diet Formulation training session expected to be available in the fall of 2011.

Made possible with funding from the Agricultural Management Institute (AMI), the Swine Nutrition e-Learning course is now available and participants can register for the free e-training by clicking here.
