Plumrose Breaks Ground for New Facility
US - The construction now starts of Plumrose USA’s new factory in Council Bluffs in the USA which will gear the company for the future. The finest golden spades were put to good use last Thursday as the ground was broken for a new Plumrose cold cuts facility to be sited in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The step is being taken to gear Danish Crown’s subsidiary for the future. Strong organic growth and collaboration with the largest US supermarkets have meant busy times for the company.
"We have been battling to keep up with demand for some time, and our employees have shown great flexibility by working weekends to process orders and to service our customers. Therefore, we have no doubt that investing in a new modern facility is the best solution to safeguard the future of the business," said CEO David Schanzer after wielding his spade.
New jobs
All in all, the new factory is expected to cost USD 70 million – or DKK 385 million – and it will be completed in about a year’s time.
Mike Gronstal, Senator in Iowa, is particularly thrilled with the 100 new jobs being created in the town.
"It is great to celebrate a bunch of new jobs coming to Council Bluffs," Mr Gronstal said to the local newspaper.
The facility will be LEED-certified, which means it will meet strict environmental building standards. Plumrose already has a factory in Council Bluffs, and the new facility will not replace the old one, but will add more production and slicing capacity.
