In Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, demand is good at slaughter companies due to the extensive quantities of pigs on offer. Despite a day of slaughter missing in Spain, Italy and Austria, the prices pressure will not be exerted.

Slight price increases could be enforced in France. A trend reversal is being hoped for after weak price quotes in previous weeks. As a result of this price increase, the French quotation is now back on the same level as the Spanish and German quotations.

As an exporting nation, Denmark is by 4 cents ahead still of Germany with regard to prices. With that, the Danish average price this year is going to be higher than the German average price for the first time. Here, good proceeds achieved in pork exports in 2011 are displayed.

Trend for the German market: Brisk demand is still observed for pigs mature for slaughter. While processed meat usually is less in demand right before Christmas, the currently increasing demand for high-quality parts is expected to grant further stability with regard to pig prices. Quotations are expected to remain unchanged this week.
