In France and Spain in particular, supply is insufficient and does not satisfy the good demand. Along with this came a 6 cents’ price increase in those countries. From both countries positive impulses are reported about to be generated on the meat markets.

This goes for export commodity in particular. Given such price increases, France and Spain clearly take the lead in the European ranking list. Prices in Italy went up by 5 cents, in Belgium by 3 cents. Mostly steady prices are prevailing in the northern countries of Europe.

The prices remain unchanged in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Austria. However, the major German slaughter companies adapted their prices to the level of the concerted prices and do not make strike prices this week.

Trend for the German market: Currently, the price level is being strengthened by the below-average supply. Positive signs are set by the pork export business. Thus, the prognoses are further brightened. For that reason, the prices are expected to remain at least steady the week ahead.
