Champagne Celebration for JSR Pig & Poultry Winner
UK - Congratulations to Vicky Scott who wins a bottle of champagne in a JSR Genetic competition held at the Pig and Poultry Fair in May.Vicky, who along with her sister runs D.P. Morgan producing slaughter pigs at their farm in Pockthorpe in Yorkshire, won her prize after entering a prize draw competition on the JSR stand during the launch of its new faster finishing sireline, the JSR Geneconverter 800m.
Entrants were asked to guess what the ‘m’ in the new boar’s name represents. “With it being such an exciting Olympic year – and a boar known for its speed of growth – we decided to honour Lord Seb Coe’s long 800 metre world record,“ said JSR Brand Manager Bev Gibson, “so Vicky guessed right, m for metres.“
Visitors to the stand were keen to learn more about the new sireline, the result of JSR’s international breeding programmes, and a direct response to direct customer demand.
“It was an excellent event for us,“ says Dr Grant Walling, JSR Genetics’ Managing Director. “We always look forward to Pig & Poultry. It’s a great time to catch up with existing customers, and meet new ones, and this year the launch of the Geneconverter 800m, provided an excellent opportunity to do both, stimulating a lot of interest.
Faster growth – reducing days to slaughter – as we predicted, has real commercial appeal for today’s producer and the stand was full of producers asking for information.“
Vicky’s prize was delivered on farm by Bev Gibson: “We’re delighted to present Vicky with a bottle of bubbly. What better way to celebrate her win – and toast the future success of the JSR Geneconverter 800m!“
