State Support Announced for Drought-stricken Farmers

CZECH REPUBLIC – The government has announced that it will release reserved cereals from state storage for domestic cattle, pig and poultry farmers.

Extreme frosts in the spring followed by extreme drought have caused shortages of cereals in the country. The government has targeted drought affected areas only such as Moravian areas and farmers in Bendl.

Livestock production needs sustaining, said Prime Minister Petr Necas. Many industries depend on the provision of meat which is why we are so focused on minimising the effects of adverse weather.

Limitations on grain for ruminant livestock are one ton and two tons for pigs and poultry. The state managed corn reserves can be purchased within loan restrictions of Czech 4,500.
