Labour Costs in Pig Processing Plants Vary Across EU

EU - A report from IFIP has found that the average gross wage of workers in pig meat processing plants in France is almost double that in Germany.

French institute Institut du Porc (IFIP) has compared labour costs between three European countries: France, Spain and Germany, according to BPEX.

This is a difficult task as costs depend on the type of cutting plant. Slaughtering costs vary between €0.06 and €0.12 per kg cwe. Cutting costs roughly vary between €0.10 and €0.50 per kg cwe.

Labour accounts for between 71 and 76 per cent of total costs.
