Ag Minister Declares Acre Free of Classical Swine Fever
BRAZIL - Antonio Andrade, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, has announced that Acre is free of classical swine fever, more commonly known as hog cholera.

The Minister made the announcement on Tuesday, 17 July, in Brasilia during a meeting with Tiao Viana, governor of Acre.
However, the official CSF-free status will only come into effect from the date of publication in the Official Gazette (DOU).
Mr Andrade said that after the publication of Acre's new disease-free status, the region will be able to export pork without any health restrictions. He said that this would be critical to the state's economy.
In addition to Acre, the other states that have achieved CSF-free status are Bahia, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Rondônia, Santa Catarina, Sao Paulo, Sergipe and Tocantins.
