It is open to all English pig unit personnel who can show how training is benefiting both their career and livestock performance on their unit; nominations are welcomed from both experienced individuals and newcomers to the industry.

BPEX skills manager Samantha Bowsher said: "The award is about recognising personal development and the practical skills acquired through training. It is really motivating, not only for entrants and their employers, but also for the industry as a whole."

The winner will receive a cash prize, a training grant, an engraved trophy and a night in London to attend the presentation event.

Producers can nominate their staff via the short form which is available here and the closing date is 26 August 2013.

Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for an informal interview on 24 September 2013 at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.

It is a condition of entry that candidates are available for interview on this date.
