Chinese Wholesale Red Meat Prices Soar
CHINA - Chinese wholesale beef prices during August bounced back to their highest level on record, which was also registered in February 2013, at RMB51.58/kg (A$9.40).

By: Sheepmeat prices hit an all-time high, at RMB53.68/kg (A$9.80) (Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China).
The continued rising red meat prices drove the average prices for beef and sheepmeat during the first eight months of 2013, to RMB50.97/kg (up 36% year-on-year, A$9.30) and RMB52.72/kg (up 16 per cent, A$9.65), respectively.
While chicken carcase prices during August were down slightly (one per cent) on the previous month, at RMB13.96/kg (A$2.55), pork prices were up six per cent, to RMB 21.58/kg (A$3.95).
However, pork prices still remained relatively steady, with the average prices during the first eight months of 2013 staying three per cent lower than the corresponding period last year, at RMB 20.69/kg (A$3.80).
