Pig Company Goes into Administration

UK - Pig producer Dent Limited, based in Penrith, has gone into administration, causing uncertainty for those contract pig-keepers who are owed money.

The administrators are Deloittes at Newcastle.

Dent has about 9,000 sows, having recently sold 3,000 to Cranswick. The administrator will now seek a buyer (or buyers) for the sows.

According to Deloitte UK, A.P. Berry and C. Boardman were appointed Joint Administrators of Dent Limited on 2 December 2013 and now manage the business, property and affairs of the Company.

Dent Limited is one of the largest outdoor reared pig producers in the UK with over 100,000 pigs held on around 80 farms operated by third-party growers across the North of England and the Midlands. The Company has 67 employees and is headquartered in Penrith, Cumbria.
