System Turning Manure into Drinking Water Awarded New Zealand Patent

NEW ZEALAND - Livestock Water Recycling, Inc. (LWR) has announced that it has been awarded a New Zealand patent for its manure treatment technology. The innovative system recycles water and concentrates fertilizer nutrients from livestock waste at intensive dairy, hog, and anaerobic digester operations.

The dairy industry is New Zealand’s biggest export earner, accounting for over a third of the world’s dairy trade. The country has a rapidly growing cow population that is increasing at a rate faster than that of their human population. New Zealand attributes its world-class dairy industry to its efficient all-grass farming system, large-scale processing, high research and development investment and creative marketing.

The LWR system employs a mechanical and chemical process which has the unique ability to completely treat livestock effluent without any discharge; all parts of the manure are reused as valuable outputs. Implementation of LWR’s technology alleviates expensive costs associated with transporting manure, reduces the risk of manure effluent contaminating freshwater sources, and improves the overall cleanliness of livestock operations.

LWR is a Calgary based environmental company with over twenty years of experience in wastewater treatment and remediation. Currently, LWR has systems operating at farms throughout Canada and the US.

In addition to the New Zealand patent, LWR’s technology has been awarded a Canadian Patent and is currently patent-pending in the US, Europe, Australia, South Korea, China, Japan, Brazil, and Russia.
