New Outbreak of African Swine Fever Reported in Ivory Coast

IVORY COAST - There has been a new outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) reported in the Ivory Coast, San-Pedro area.

The outbreak has affected 600 out of 1,500 domesticated pigs on a farm in San-Pedro.

All of the 600 pigs died suddenly; no animals were destroyed.

The source of the outbreak is thought to have been swill feeding.

The last outbreak of African Swine Fever in the country was in December 1996.
