Classical Swine Fever Detected in Latvian Wild Boar

LATVIA - There have been three new outbreaks of Classical Swine Fever (CSF) reported in the Balvi county, located in the eastern region of the country.

All three outbreaks were detected in wild boar, affecting in total a number of four animals.

Three of the infected boar were destroyed, the other was found dead with the fever.

Since May 2013 wild boar oral vaccination against CSF virus is on-going in a CSF infected area.

The source of the outbreak is still unknown.
