On 8 August 2014, there were clinical signs of disease in two pigs in the private sector (18 km from the border with Russia) with signs typical of ASF.

Specialists of the civil veterinary services decided to provide samples of the affected animals for laboratory studies.

To prevent the spread of the infectious agent, a quarantine area, a protection zone (4 km) and a surveillance zone (Koryukovskaya area, about 15 km radius) have been established.

The source of the outbreak is still inconclusive.
