Two New Outbreaks of Foot and Mouth in South Korea

SOUTH KOREA - Two new outbreaks of Foot and Mouth disease have been detected in the Gyenongsangbuk-do region of South Korea.

Both outbreaks were detected in domesticated swine.

The first outbreak reported on the 27 July, affected 40 swine and as a result all of these animals were destroyed.

The second outbreak confirmed on the 6 August, affected 1317 swine and resulted in the destruction of all of these animals.

The source of the outbreaks is still unknown.
