Classical Swine Fever Virus Reported in Ukraine
UKRAINE - Three wild boar have tested positive for classical swine fever in Ukraine; affected animals have been destroyed.The disease was detected in wild boar in the Borodyans kyy, hunting grounds, Kiev, as part of an on-going monitoring programme. The region borders Belarus.
In total, of the 98 wild boar tested, only three tested positive for the disease.
The source of the outbreak is unknown.
The last outbreak of classical swine fever in the country was in July 2001.
