The association, which represents British pig producers and the allied trades in Whitehall and Brussels and with processors, caterers and retailers, is looking for a 'passionate and confident individual' for what will be a challenging but highly rewarding position.

The NPA's full advert for the post can be viewed here.

It outlines the job description and the experience and skills required:

"Supporting the chief executive, you will represent pig producers throughout the food chain, to the media, and to United Kingdom and European Union officials and elected representatives.

"You will be responsible for a range of policy areas and will develop excellent communications skills in order to effectively brief farmers, regulators and ministers.

"You will also use your presentational skills to update NPA’s pig producer and allied trades members at regional and national events."

"As an enthusiastic and organised individual, your passion to learn and stimulate new ideas will be matched by an ability to manage high-pressure situations effectively and to prioritise a demanding workload.

"You will probably already be working in the pig industry and will be keen to develop a good understanding of policy-making, political representation and negotiation.

"You will also be active in the attraction and retention of members, managing tight financial budgets and promoting the British pig industry at all levels."

The closing date for applications is Friday, December 16, 2016.
