China to auction a further 10,000 tonnes of frozen pork on 28 August

China will sell 10,000 tonnes of frozen pork from its state reserves on Friday 28 August.

Reuters reports that the China Merchandise Reserve Management Centre made the announcement on Tuesday 25 August.

China has already sold more than 500,000 tonnes of pork from its stockpile this year in an effort to assuage high prices after a severe production shortfall due to African swine fever. This auction closely follows one from last week.
