China reports outbreak of ASF in Hunan province

China has notified the US Department of Agriculture of an African swine fever outbreak in Hunan province.

A report from the US Foreign Agriculture Service says that animal health authorities in China detected three cases of African swine fever in Hunan province. The infected pigs were illegally transported to Hunan province along with 61 other susceptible animals. China has culled the pigs that were exposed to the virus as a precautionary measure.

This is China’s fourth notification since the end of January.
