A long-awaited PRRS order has come into force in Denmark, with the new order taking effect from 15 May 2023. Producers with more than 10 sows or more than 100 pigs in total are required to follow the new state-funded program, according to Denmark's Pig Research Center.

The aim is for 85% of all sow herds in the country and 75% of all finishing pigs to be free of PRRS by 2025.

According to the new order, all Danish pig producers must ensure that they know the health status of their herd before 1 October 2023. Under the new order producers are also required to update data in the CHR register by 1 June 2023 at the latest, indicating the number of pigs and the veterinarian.
