Brazil hog slaughter drops 1.6% over last year

Slaughter declined 1.1% this quarter

According to the quarterly livestock report from Brazil's Agência de Notícias (IBGE), hog slaughter has fallen 1.6% this year and 1.1% in the quarter.

In total, 14.00 million pigs were slaughtered in the 2nd quarter of 2023. This is a decline of 1.6% compared to the same quarter in 2022, and a drop of 1.1% compared to the 1st quarter of 2023.

By carcass weight, a total of 1.31 million tons were recorded in the 2nd quarter of 2023, a decline of 0.3% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2022, and an increase of 2.0% compared to the previous quarter.
