Both hog and pork prices moved up in Brazil in the first fortnight of October, according to a recent market report from Cepea. However, they decreased in the second fortnight of the month.

Still, while in some areas the upward trend in early October influenced the price rise compared to September, price drops in the second part of the month resulted in a decrease of the monthly average.

In early October, the lower supply of animals to slaughter and the demand increase boosted quotations for both live pigs and pork. In the second fortnight, on the other hand, due to liquidity decrease, values dropped influenced by the lower demand.
