Despite a downward trend at the end of the month, average pork prices in May remained higher than in April, supported by gains in the first half of the month, according to a recent market report from Cepea.

In contrast, beef and chicken prices declined, reducing pork’s competitiveness in the market.

Weaker consumer demand for pork—common at the end of the month—put pressure on prices, but the earlier rally kept monthly averages elevated.
