Brazil pork prices edge down, lose ground to rivals - Cepea
Weak demand, low buying power slow domestic pork trade

By: Average prices in Brazil for special pork carcasses registered slight declines in July, while quotations for beef carcasses and chilled chicken fell more sharply, according to a recent market report from Cepea. As a result, pork lost competitiveness against its main rivals by the end of the month.
In Brazil’s domestic market, recent drops in live hog prices have not been enough to stimulate demand for pork cuts. With the end of the month bringing lower consumer purchasing power, trading activity remained sluggish, leading to further price declines from June to July.
