Brazil pork shipments increase 2.8% in August - ABPA
August pork exports up 2.8%; revenue rises 6.7%Brazilian pork exports totalled 121,400 tonnes in August, up 2.8% from 118,100 tonnes a year earlier, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). Export revenue for the month rose 6.7% to $294.9 million (US$294.9 million) from $276.3 million (US$276.3 million) in August 2024.
From January to August, shipments reached 970,300 tonnes, an 11.5% increase from 870,200 tonnes in the same period last year. Year-to-date revenue climbed 23.8% to $2.334 billion (US$2.334 billion), compared with $1.885 billion (US$1.885 billion) in 2024, ABPA said.
“Brazil’s pork exports have expanded their diversification among destinations, with new markets among the largest importers,” said ABPA president Ricardo Santin. “This increased reach should support continued positive exports this year.”
The Philippines led August destinations with 33,400 tonnes (+19.5%), followed by Chile with 13,300 tonnes (+8.3%), China with 10,300 tonnes (-36.3%), Japan with 8,500 tonnes (+5.4%), Mexico with 7,400 tonnes (+30.7%), Hong Kong with 6,000 tonnes (-36.6%), Vietnam with 5,900 tonnes (+42.7%), Singapore with 5,200 tonnes (-33.1%), Uruguay with 3,700 tonnes (+2.4%), and Ivory Coast with 3,400 tonnes (+164.3%).
By state, Santa Catarina shipped 56,900 tonnes (-9%), Rio Grande do Sul 31,400 tonnes (+20.5%), Paraná 18,300 tonnes (+9.4%), Minas Gerais 2,500 tonnes (+1.5%), and Mato Grosso 3,100 tonnes (-3.6%).
