Pork exports to Japan slide in 2025 - USMEF
Weak yen weighs on trade despite potential ASF opening
Pork exports to Japan fell 9% year over year in the January through September period, pressured by a weak yen and other market headwinds, according to a market report compiled by the US Meat Export Federation.
Export volume to Japan totalled 235,083 metric tonnes during the nine-month period, while export value declined 12% to $937.4 million, the federation reported.
Japan recently suspended pork imports from Spain following detections of African swine fever, a development that could create growth opportunities for the US pork industry.
