Pork’s competitiveness against beef in Brazil has reached its highest level since 2022 in real terms, according to Cepea. The price spread between beef and special pork carcass averaged 9.47 Reais/kg in 2025, coming in 36% higher than in 2024 and 12% above 2023, though still 25% below the 2022 gap of 12.64 Reais/kg.

Cepea says the advantage for pork is driven largely by higher beef prices. In the wholesale market of Greater São Paulo, beef averaged BRL 22.25/kg in early 2025, up 16.8% from a year earlier. Special pork carcass averaged BRL 12.78/kg, an increase of 5.5% from 2024.
