Surveys by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein show Brazilian pork exports totalled 1.51 million tonnes in 2025, a record for the sector and an increase of 11.6% from 1.352 million tonnes in 2024, according to a recent market report from ABPA

With that growth, Brazil is expected to surpass Canada, moving into third place among the world’s largest pork exporters.

December shipments helped lift the annual total. Pork exports reached 137,800 tonnes in December, up 25.8% from 109,500 tonnes in December 2024.

Export revenue rose sharply. Brazilian pork exports were valued at US$3.619 billion in 2025, an increase of 19.3% from US$3.033 billion a year earlier. December revenue alone totalled US$324.5 million, up 25.6% from US$258.4 million in the same month last year.

The Philippines was the top destination for Brazilian pork in 2025, importing 392,900 tonnes, a 54.5% increase from 2024. It was followed by China with 159,200 tonnes (down 33.9%), Chile with 118,600 tonnes (up 4.9%), Japan with 114,400 tonnes (up 22.4%) and Hong Kong with 110,900 tonnes (up 3.7%).

“There has been a significant change in the export destination board. The Philippines has consolidated itself as the largest importer of pork from Brazil, and other markets, such as Japan and Chile, have taken the lead among the five largest importers," said ABPA president and CEO Ricardo Santin.

"This demonstrates the effectiveness of the process of diversification of Brazilian pork destinations, which reduces risks, expands opportunities and strengthens Brazil's presence in the international market, supporting positive expectations for this year," he added.
