Brazilian pork exports hit a record high in March, with 153,800 tonnes shipped — up 32.2% on the same month last year, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).

Revenue also set a new record at US$361.6 million, a 30.1% increase year on year.

For the first quarter as a whole, volumes reached 392,200 tonnes, 16.5% ahead of Q1 2025, while revenue of US$916 million was 16.1% higher than the prior year.

The Philippines was the top destination in March, receiving 48,900 tonnes — an 80.7% jump on the same period last year. Japan was close behind with 18,200 tonnes (+85.8%), followed by China at 12,700 tonnes (-9.5%), Chile at 10,600 tonnes (+26.1%) and Hong Kong at 8,800 tonnes (-29.4%).

"Global demand for Brazilian pork remains high, especially in markets such as the Philippines, Japan, and other countries in Asia and South America," said ABPA president Ricardo Santin. "The export performance at the beginning of this year should continue throughout the coming months, confirming the projected increase in shipments for 2026."

At state level, Santa Catarina led with 71,000 tonnes (+21.5%), followed by Rio Grande do Sul at 43,300 tonnes (+71.4%), Paraná at 21,400 tonnes (+10.5%), Minas Gerais at 4,800 tonnes (+69%) and Mato Grosso at 4,200 tonnes (+37.8%).
