The International Workshop on Enteric Diseases will be held on Tuesday, June 23, from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the ISU CVM campus, sponsored by Medgene.  The International PRRS Management Workshop, sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, will follow from 12:30-5:00 PM, with a social dinner at the conclusion of the preconference.  Both preconferences will host global leaders in the swine industry who will share their experiences with the control and elimination of pathogens in commercial settings.  Presentations will also highlight new research in these areas, as well as currently available tools for the industry to utilize in disease control and elimination.

This year's main conference will highlight both international and national industry leaders, providing updates on the National Pork Board’s newly released National Swine Health Strategy and New World Screwworm status and response plans.

Two concurrent tracks will follow in the afternoon focused on the best methods for using the available PRRS strain identification tools, Influenza and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae eradication lessons learned, biosecurity lessons learned, as well as ASF insights from the recent outbreak in Barcelona and transition diet feeding to improve sow retention.

There are also several practitioner-led talks relating to PCV2, the use of water consumption data to predict disease outbreaks, forecasting PRRS outbreaks and impacts of filter selection, in addition to recommendations for treatment during product shortages and clinical manifestations of an emerging PEDV strain.

Conference attendees are welcome to attend the ISU Swine Networking Social hosted by Iowa Swine Day following the main conference on June 24 at the Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center in Ames, IA.
