Pork in Taiping Found to Contain Beta-Agonist

According to The Star, its chairman Siow Chee Meng told Sin Chew Daily that he had received numerous complaints from the public about the sale of tainted pork in the country.

He said the association’s pro-tem committee had sent pork samples, which were obtained from markets nationwide, to a laboratory for examination. Siow said the meat samples purchased in Taiping were found to contain the illegal substance.

“I have reported the findings to the Health Ministry and the Veterinary Services Department," he added.

Mr Siow said they had also sent pork samples bought from markets in Pahang, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to be tested for beta-agonist.

The reports are expected to be out next week.
