UK - Applications are now open for September 2012 entry to the Royal Veterinary College’s Post Graduate Certificate in Intensive Livestock Health and Production. The course is designed for those working within the pig and poultry agri-food sectors, with many of the assessments workplace targeted. Bursaries of 50 per cent are available in this opening year of the course.

The PG Certificate is a free-standing part-time qualification and is an on-line distance learning course consisting of 3 Core Modules: Principles and Practices of Food Systems, People in the System and Current Trends in Food Systems. There is the option (subject to further course validation) to continue to Diploma level and a full MSc from September 2013, when elective modules will be available for career development in Animal Science, Specialist Veterinary Practice, Livestock Production, Animal Welfare, Economics, Policy & Legislation and Food Industry.

This training has been developed from an Advanced Training Partnership grant from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). This was awarded in May 2011 to The Royal Veterinary College, in collaboration with Newcastle, Edinburgh and Cambridge Universities.
