7.7 What about eradication programs?

A number of studies have tried to establish strategies for eradication of proliferative enteropathy. None of them however have proved to be effective. These programs have generally used disinfection and sanitation programs, like those used against swine dysentery, along with antibiotic usage in numerous pigs on the farms. Up to now there is no indication that use of the vaccine may lead to eradication of Lawsonia intracellularis.
