Elanco expands swine product portfolio

By: Dr. Jessica Risser, a senior technical consultant with the Elanco Swine Business Unit, recently spoke to The Pig Site’s Sarah Mikesell at the 2023 World Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa, USA.
“We've really worked on our portfolio this year and added quite a bit to it,” said Risser. “The first thing is Increxxa 25, which is a new addition to the portfolio.“
Elanco already offered the Increxxa 100 mg product and now it has added Increxxa 25 which is an added benefit for producers. It is another injectable antibiotic with a different formulation that makes it easier for the producer to administer to younger pigs.
“Number two, we did recently announce that we are distributing the Aptimmune Barricade PRRS vaccine, she said. “That's also a new addition to our vaccine portfolio that we think will go really well with Prevacent PRRS, our modified live virus vaccine.”
The third new development for 2023 for Elanco is related to the nutritional health sector.
“We purchased the products from NutriQuest,” said Dr. Risser. “That has expanded some non-antibiotic solutions for our producers.”
Elanco is looking to the future due to the continued pressures with antibiotic use in the US. Elanco is looking for other solutions to add to their portfolio for producers of all sizes in the swine industry.
Broad portfolio for producers
“The key piece is to have a variety in the portfolio from the injectable side, feed additives, antibiotics, non-antibiotics and water solutions,” said Risser. “A wide range of products to help address health, growth, economics and to have all of those included.”
Since producers are looking for solutions to be more efficient, Elanco is working to find innovative solutions that address challenges in the industry to empower producers to improve the care of their animals.
“To be more efficient, it definitely starts with health,” Risser said. “If your animals are healthier, they are more efficient and grow better. Customers can look at the wide variety of our portfolio and mix and match depending upon their needs.”
