Improving Pig Welfare Reduces Carcass and Financial Losses
The ability to reduce many of the financial losses associated with condemnations resulting from tail-biting is within the control of the producer, according to Dr Laura Boyle of Moorepark following two studies presented at the Pig Farmers' Conference organised by Teagasc in the Republic of Ireland in October 2012. Co-authors of the paper were from University College Dublin and Queens University in Belfast.
