Circovirus Present in Boar Semen
In a paper entitled Shedding of porcine circovirus type 2 by boars and the role of PCV-2 in semen transmission, Darin Madson and co-workers at the Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine at Iowa State University found evidence that PCVa and PCVb are shed in boar semen. However, they were unable to say whether this led to reproductive failure following artificial insemination. Published in the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service Swine News for October 2008.
